hand painted paddles inspired by First Nations culture
Inspired by Indigenous art and nature, Onquata is first and foremost a project centered on decorative, water-resistant trembling aspen paddles. Wendat artisans from Wendake, deeply connected to their territory, Lise and Lara, mother and daughter, explore through their work the continuation of an ancestral know-how. Enhancing everyday utilitarian objects is part of the Wendat heritage and reflects a strong sense of pride, which the creators convey through a contemporary and authentic approach.
Today, Onquata takes a new step forward with the opening of its brick-and-mortar boutique in Wendake. A fully authentic space showcasing their own creations, alongside a curated selection of works and products by other Indigenous artisans.
The boutique features decorative items, jewelry, textiles and clothing, wellness and self-care products, local flavours, as well as pieces rooted in art and culture.
At Onquata, every purchase celebrates Indigenous pride, creativity and craftsmanship. A unique and inspiring place to discover.
