At the Heart of Wolastoqey Art and Tradition
Matuweskewin means “porcupine hunter” in the Wolastoqey Latuwewakon language.
A must-visit welcoming place in Cacouna, the Matuweskewin boutique showcases the knowledge and craftsmanship of Wolastoqey artists and artisans, as well as those from other First Nations, offering unique and authentic pieces.
As the starting point of the Putep ’t-awt experience, the boutique is also the place to reserve your seat for the evenings of stories and legends. Held in the Sqotek pavilion, meaning “place of the fire,” at Kiskotuk Coastal Park, these gatherings invite you to take the time to deepen your understanding of Wolastoqey culture through encounter, storytelling, and oral tradition.
