Wolastoqiyik

The Wolastoqiyik Wahsipekuk Nation (the St-Laurent Maliseet) is a community living in Cacouna, along the south shore of the St. Lawrence River. They own a site that hosts the administrative building of the Maliseet of Viger First Nation; it’s a great spot to observe migratory birds and marine mammals. This Nation has always been known for the quality of its handicrafts: sculpture, quillwork, beadwork, and basket weaving.

Wolastoqiyik Wahsipekuk

The Maliseet of Viger First Nation, now known as the Wolastoqiyik Wahsipekuk, is right next to the municipality of Cacouna. The Maliseet have historically lived off fishing and hunting; their movements along the banks of the St. Lawrence following the seasons.
